Every year great anticipation surrounds the announcement of the
Festival programme in July and tickets going on sale to the Friends
of Canterbury Festival for two weeks before general booking opens
in August.
Diane Gaskain, Chairman of the Friends, comments 'Your Friends
membership card is the hottest ticket in town. Did you manage to
get tickets to see the likes of Willard White and Stacey Kent or
were you one of the hundreds who were disappointed? Many top events
sell out as soon as general booking opens; if you want to be sure
of getting the tickets and the best seats, you need to join the
Friends before the end of June and take advantage of the exclusive
early booking opportunity.'
She adds: 'In addition, the Friends of Canterbury Festival run
some top class events throughout the year, which are not only
highly enjoyable but also raise funds for the Festival itself. Last
year we had, amongst other things, 'A Night in Little Italy' with
Cameo Opera in February; and in July we held the fabulous Divas and
Delphiniums when 14 stars from the West End, including Robert
Lindsay, entertained us at the most wonderful garden party. This
event sold out as soon as tickets went on general sale. The only
way to make sure to get to these type of events is by becoming a
Friend. Show your ticket and get the tickets.'
The very reasonable membership rates start from as little as
£1.67 a month or £20 per annum for an individual (£10 students)
with further options available for couples (£30), families (£35)
and enhanced memberships (Silver £100, Gold £300).
