20 October 2018 - 3 November 2018

During the Festival we programme a series of Family Friendly shows, aimed at children aged 3-11. After each show we run a FREE arts workshop where children can try out a new artform. In 2017 this included juggling, arts and craft, drumming, character improvisation, acrobatics, hula hooping, dance and puppet making.

Through workshops, children can also complete a worksheet that will gain them their first Arts Award (Discover). Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification within the arts, and Discover is the first step of a journey that children can follow into adulthood.

The Festival was delighted with the results:

7 free Discover Hub workshops

154 Discover Hub participants

50 Discover Arts Award Certificates

and some fabulous feedback:

“I learnt about acting techniques” Hamna, 7

“I enjoyed the show and workshop” Skye, 8

“I have learnt that actors work very hard” Faaiz, 9

“I liked being a flier balancing on the top of the pyramid” Violet, 9

“I loved the mouth juggling” Isaac, 5

“I learnt how to use a big voice” Cleo, 4

The workshops enabled the Festival to have contact with

32 different schools

12 arts practitioners
