Become a Festival Friend
Enjoy Priority Booking
Did you know that Festival Friends get two whole weeks to book their Festival tickets before the general public can buy them? Friends take good advantage of this special benefit to make sure they get to see the shows they want in the seats they want, and for those events with limited numbers such as the Walks and Talks it is especially useful. Friends also receive discounts on selected Festival events plus last-minute offers. So, if you missed a show, a walk, a talk or anything else, or if you just enjoyed something during the Festival, why not become a Friend in time for October 2019.
This, however, is not all the Friends do. They also hold a whole variety of fundraising events throughout the year. During 2019 they are planning to hold a couple of walks; A Vineyard Walk from the Griffin’s Head at Chillenden to Barnsole Vineyard and then back for a light lunch, and in association with the Canterbury Archaeological Trust, the Directors Spring Walk around Historic Canterbury with the Director of the Trust himself, Paul Bennett.
The Friends are also bringing back the fabulous Concert and Picnic at beautiful Barham Court (by kind permission of Peter Cox and Kate Neales), once again featuring the brilliant Orbi Big Band. This is one of the Friends’ most popular events – an afternoon in the garden of a picturesque house listening to some seriously good swing whilst enjoying good food and wine, who could want more?
The Friends are also very proud to run the Festival’s Poet of the Year Competition. 2019 will be its 13th year and during this time it has grown from modest beginnings to become a worldwide and much respected event in the poetry world.
Single membership starts from £25, a couple from £35, and a family membership from £40. There are also special Silver and Gold Memberships which have extra benefits. New Friends are offered four months free membership of the Friends of Canterbury Cathedral and, for that out of the ordinary present, we also do Membership Gift Vouchers.
The Friends’ Committee are always looking for new and innovative fundraising ideas and would be delighted to hear what sort of events you would like to attend. They are also looking for new Committee Members so if you have an interest in the Festival and are thinking of become a little more involved please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
