Rock Music at This Years Festival
Music events to look out for in this years festival for rock music fans
From The Christians to YolanDa Brown, fans of rock music have much to which to look forward in this year’s Festival. Back on the road, the Christians open the Festival at the Spiegeltent on 20 October a with a show-stopping gig. Another band returning to touring, The Feeling, play sings from their award-winning back catalogue in the Marlowe on 21 October.
The incredibly talented and charismatic musician and broadcaster Tom Robinson plays a locomotive set in the Spiegeltent on 23 October marking forty years of the seminal Power in the Darkness album in an evening not to be missed. The Shires, the UK’s most successful country music act play the Marlowe on 25 October in an evening guaranteed to be among the hottest tickets of the Festival. Expect a mixture of ballads, up-tempo numbers and a fusion of pop and country music from the band that produced the fastest-selling UK country album in history.
On 27 October, the Marlowe hosts another contemporary rock legend. Singer-songwriter and Strictly contestant Sophie Ellis-Bextor performs ice-cool vocals with a perfect rock groove that come with a full band and string section in a mixture of your favourite hits.
Closing the Festival in the Spiegeltent in style on 3 November, University Britain’s premier female saxophonist and University of Kent graduate YolanDa Brown brings a fusion of reggae, jazz and soul. Having toured with bands from the Temptations to Jools Hollands Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, YolanDa combines broadcasting with a brilliant, uplifting musicianship and soaring melodies.
