The Friends of the Canterbury Festival are delighted to invite you to a fabulous concert held at Barham Court, by kind permission of Peter Cox and Kate Neales.
The Friends of Canterbury Festival are delighted to announce that 16 July is the ideal day to dust off that lovely old wickerwork hamper and fill it with delectable goodies, to polish up the ice bucket and chill the Champagne ready to bring along and do some easy listening at their third Summer Picnic and Concert in the gorgeous gardens of Barham Court (courtesy of Kate Neales and Peter Cox).
This year the music will be provided by the Strait Eight Jazz and Blues Band who, with their line-up of Saxophones, Piano, Vibes, Guitar, Bass and Drums, promise not only Jazz and Blues, but some Swing and even a touch of Rock’n’Roll. Expect numbers such as ‘Don’t Get Around Much Anymore’, ‘Emily’, ‘I’ve Got the World on a String’, ‘Just Friends’, and ‘Shiny Stocking’.
The band also features lovely chanteuse Rachel Hutching who, in the style of the iconic Billie Holliday, will perform songs such as ‘God Bless the Child’, ‘Why Don’t You Do Right’, ‘Crazy He CallsMe’ and ‘You Go to My Head’.
Tea and coffee will be on sale in the garden. Gates open at 5.30 and the band strikes up at 6.30. The dress code is ‘British Summer’ so you can bring your boater or wear your wellies. There is car parking available and a wet weather venue if needed.
So, come along and enjoy the perfect entertainment for a summer’s evening; good music in beautiful surroundings and (fingers crossed) lovely weather. A superb way to support the Festival!
Tickets are £15 each, available from the Canterbury Festival Office on 01227 452853 or email email@example.com.
